First Things First
First Things First is a valuable time for our school. Through months and years of repetition and delight, the Holy Spirit will work in and through our community to bring glory to God. These routines help turn our hearts and minds to Christ and start each day giving Him the glory and honor He deserves. We encourage you to continue this time in your own homes by sitting down together as a family and reciting these truths out loud. You may even choose to sing the hymn together! We pray that the Lord will bless your discipleship time and bring you even greater joy and delight as you spend time in God’s Word.

Harbor declarationWe go to Harbor Christian Academy, a Kingdom School. We exalt the name of Jesus. We recognize his presence here. We believe in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We believe the Bible to be God’s truth, a guide for our feet. I am created in the image of God, and he loves me beyond my imagination. God calls me to love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ – to listen and obey. To use words with kindness, to respect God’s creation and all authority; to not do harm against another but to love and encourage others and to serve my community. We will display a crown of beauty instead of ashes; the oil of gladness instead of hopelessness; a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. We will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.
scripture memory of the quarter — Deuteronomy 6:1-9 eSV“Now this is the commandment—the statutes and the rules—that the Lord your God commanded me to teach you, that you may do them in the land to which you are going over, to possess it, that you may fear the Lord your God, you and your son and your son’s son, by keeping all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, all the days of your life, and that your days may be long. Hear therefore, O Israel, and be careful to do them, that it may go well with you, and that you may multiply greatly, as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.
“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
Refrain:
Go, tell it on the mountain,
Over the hills and everywhere.
Go, tell it on the mountain
That Jesus Christ is born.
While shepherds kept their watching
O'er silent flocks by night,
Behold thru-out the heavens
There shone a holy light.
Refrain
hymn of the quarter — go, tell it on the mountain
The shepherds feared and trembled
When lo! above the earth
Rang out the angel chorus
That hailed our Savior's birth.
Refrain
Down in a lowly manger
The humble Christ was born,
And God sent us salvation
That blessed Christmas morn.
