Kindergarten students have been making huge strides in their reading skills. Most of them are working through early decodable readers and are learning about initial consonant blends. They recently studied Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters by John Steptoe and compared it with Charles Perrault’s Cinderella fairy tale. This led them to learn about Zimbabwe, African animals, reptiles, and the rain forest. They took a trip to the Houston Zoo to bring their learning to life.
